Florence Blue is changing a little. After organising a whole heap of weddings, Style My Day was born out of a realisation that couples want individual and fun weddings, but sometimes don’t have the time or energy to source heaps of loot to decorate their day. Style My Day therefore offers a hire service so you can borrow lots of lovely goodies for your wedding weekend, and then give them back. It means you won’t have to spend hours selling candlesticks on eBay or trying to find space in your wardrobe for a retro typewriter after your wedding is over. Not only that, but we are also pretty handy. Whether you want quirky paper goods, scrumptious cakes or individual finishing touches, we can make it all. So if you’d like our help in making your day that extra bit special, then just give us a shout. We can also be there on the day to set up so you can relax in the knowledge that your day will look just as you want without having to worry.

I always get couples asking where they can find quirky, individual paper goods, and the sad truth is, the UK is really lacking to provide some alternative options. So... we've taken the bull by the horn and will now be offering our own service. Whatever you want, we will try our damn hardest to give it to you.

Florence has teamed with her little cousin, Dan the Man who is a whiz on the Mac. We aim to provide something different, fun and original. If you know what you want but aren't sure how to go about it, just get in touch and we can chat over the details.

Below are some ideas of what we can do. It doesn't have to just be invites, think everything, table plans, name cards, thank you notes. Sometimes you start off with very good intentions but as your wedding day grows closer, it's nice to have someone who can lend you a helping hand.

With a tight budget I have been thinking up ways of cutting costs without sacrificing any enjoyment. So, we've come up with the DIY Wedding Breakfast. On each table, guests will have a vintage suitcase packed with lots of nibbles and picnic goodies. I love the interactive element, it will certainly get the guests chatting and mixing. You know how I love a colourful wedding.... well I thought I'd pull together a few inspirational images for a carnival themed celebration. A few of my clients have gone down this route over the past few months and I've loved working on them. Real Wedding: Katie and Harley

I'm so sorry that it's been such a long time! Since it's out of my main wedding season I've been working hard on lots of other events. Mostly media launches and F1 parties... nothing as exciting or creative as a good Florence Blue wedding! Anyway, my inbox just brightened up with some images from the marvelous Lee Robbins who photographed Katie and Harley's wedding a few weeks ago. The wedding took place at St Paul's Cathedral with the reception at The Design Museum. I cannot sing their praises enough, the entire team there are absolute superstars and each worked really hard to ensure the day was a roaring success. Katie and Harley are the most lovely couple. The are super creative, extremely laid back and have contagious laughs! It was a really pleasure to be involved in their day. Ideas were brought to life by working with some brilliant, independent suppliers who were able to pull out all the stops. I have made a little list of these people at the bottom. Guess what, I've just sold my wedding dress!

After a big 2010 clear out I decided that it was pointless having a wedding dress hanging in my wardrobe for the rest of time....

I'm not much of a hoarder and love the idea of my dress getting used again to make another bride happy.

I have all the photos I need and lovely memories of the day that will stay with me forever.

It's a good thing to keep in mind if you've fallen in love with a dress that's way over budget... wear it for your day and then recoup some of the costs by selling on afterwards.

The shop is a treasure chest of original finds... but if you can't find what you're looking for, they also offer a sourcing service. Whatever you want, drop them a line and they will do their best to scour the land and find it for you. Handy Steven can then make any restorations and paint your piece in the colour of your choice. Holly also runs a gorgeous art workshop at the back of the store for anyone wanting to learn a new skill this year.

The below was made from a lot of lovely hens who each gave a sentimental piece of fabric to the chief bridesmaid. Scraps included old school uniform, sports kit, wedding bunting, dress fabrics along with colourful napkins that they thought she would love.

Anyone wanting to create something similar should collect all the pieces and take to a local seamstress. It's actually a really cost effective way of creating a super memorable gift.

Clipboard fun

This lovely little picture inspired an idea for an original table plan.

Grab yourself a stack of basic clipboards from the likes of WH Smiths and decorate with pretty decorative paper, or even free wallpaper samples.

Start by making a template, trace the shape of the board onto a piece of thick card. Then brush some glue onto the clipboard making sure you have an even layer. Finish by affixing the paper and smoothing out any air bubbles.

Write guest names on pretty paper or fabric and clip to the board.

What's your favourite part of a wedding to photograph?

The 'Getting Ready' part! Usually, there is some lovely detail to be captured - shoes, flowers, dresses.. And I love to capture the nervous anticipation of what is sure to be a momentous occasion. It's a special and intimate time.

What's the best wedding that you've ever been to, and why?

The wedding I enjoyed the most was my own! But apart from that, my oldest friends who had been together since the age of 18 got married in Cornwall in the most tiny and beautiful church sunken in the middle of a coastal golf course. Although it poured with rain no-one cared. We had champagne on the beach in the wind and rain, a boat ride to a sailing club and a small and lovely reception on trestle tables with daisies on the tables and so on. Small, intimate, all our oldest friends together. Such a happy day.

What inspires you?

Diane Arbus inspires me. The most amazing portrait photographer I know of. One day I will be rich and buy one of her prints. They retail at approximately 120,000!

What's your top tip for achieving great wedding photographs?

Blend into the background as much as you can for those unposed shots. Keep looking, don't miss a beat but give people space to enjoy the day without a lens constantly intruding. For the more formal shots that most people want, you've got to be fairly firm in your direction to get everyone together but the key is to create a good atmosphere by staying relaxed about it and encouraging people to enjoy the process.

A simple guide to making your own table numbers:

What you'll need:

House numbers - found at a hardware store, or online for more vintage options

2 screws per number

Screwdriver

A selection on vintage books - found at charity stores

To assemble:

Remove pages from book

Place the house number in the middle of the cover of the book

Screw the house number into the book using screwdriver

Repeat with the other numbers to coordinate with the amount of tables at event.

Tah-dah!

Homemade confetti cones

With thanks to SMP, here's a how-to for making your own handmade confetti cones.

Obviously feel free to experiment with various papers and pretty extras.

Step by step:

Step 1: Cut 5 x 5 square of card. ecocraft.com has some great varieties
Step 2: Tape the right corner with small piece of double sided tape
Step 3: Roll to form cone & secure with the tape
Step 4: Punch hole at the top to add your little note or accessory
Step 5: Fill with dried flowers
Step 6: Write your chosen phrase several times (approximately 1/2″ apart) on paper and photocopy. Cut into strips and cut bottom edge on an angle.
Step 7: Fold the top over and mark (with pen) hole on cone top with desired location for second hole on cone.
Step 8: Connect: Thread butterfly wire through top hole. Line up tag with hole in body of cone. Thread wire through tag and body hole (from the top down).
Step 9: Pass out to guests for a darling confetti shower

These can be used as a guestbook where messages are left for you in a selection of bottles, or as place names. Old milk bottles can be picked up at a steal from your local milk factory. They look so chic with a little bit of twine. Write your guest name on the front and leave a personal love note inside. A lovely keepsake and original favour.

To celebrate the Bank Holiday weekend, why not get busy making some gorgeous little wedding goodies. These bags are so cheap and cheerful and will look good no matter what your theme. You just need to buy some fabric of your choice, sew the three corners and tie with ribbon.

The below included lots of lovely sweeties, but you can fill with what you like.

Flower seeds have been really popular this season but don't waste money on buying the pre-packaged versions. Get yourself some mini envelopes, or cut out pretty wrapping paper of your choice, then get stamping.

This is truely ideal for any brides wanting beach themed wedding.
Having got going on the research this afternoon I have discovered that these small fishing boats can be hired for less than £20 per day.
